Hello my friends!
Happy friday! Have you met lovely Angela? Little Black Fences, such an evocative name....and such beautiful pieces. This one in particular has me under it's spell....but, Angela describes it best. Angela?
" i've always been enamored with the work of printer Pierre-Joseph Redoute, especially the roses suite; the patient skill that his process required and his love of subtlety and appreciation for simple, natural beauty. this painting was done as an ode to his work though my aesthetic may make that hard to see. i wanted to do a botanical drawing that emphasized stillness and simplicity without getting scientific.
the more i look at this piece, the more i like it... the more i want to do more of them! a whole land-slide of rose portraits! there's a bit of stylish mystery in this painting that surprises me. it's very different from a lot of the work i do and i definitely think it's a piece that i can learn a lot from. especially practicing stillness within myself- slowing down enough to see the subtle, humble, unassuming beauties that surround me."
